Old furniture lasts for a reason. It was built to last. The old expression “they don’t make it like they used to” holds particularly true for old furniture. Perhaps it has seen better days and now just needs a new face lift.

If a piece of furniture has lasted 10 years or more, it more than likely has a good frame. Reupholstering your furniture can provide many more years of enjoyment and comfort.

The recovering process starts with striping back to bare frame check all joins and structure.

Some upholsterers do not completely stripe back to frame but to us it is important to do this because leaving the old fabric underneath can shorten the life of the new fabric. From there we check webbing and or springs and start reupholstering form the frame onwards

If only our customers could see the difference between buying made in china furniture and reupholstering there would be no question about which is the best direction to take.

Furniture made in china is poorly made from the ground up they use green timber, cheap foams that will soften very quickly poor webbing and finally fabric that just won’t go the distance.

Basically it’s all cheap ever wondered why you can buy a lounge suite for $1500 this is the reason it is not made to last and all ends up in landfill in a short space of time
